MY POORLY KEPT SECRET

December 2007
IF YOU CAN FIND ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME, THEY WILL KNOW WHERE I STAND ON BARRY LAMAR BONDS.
I WOULD NOT SHOOT MISTER BONDS, BUT I AM NOT ABOVE SUPPLYING THE AMMUNITION TO THOSE WITH WEAPONS.
I SEE THIS GUY AS A SOCIOPATH, WHO WANTED TO REPLACE BETTER MEN IN THE RECORD BOOKS OF BASEBALL.
BEFORE HE STARTED CHEATING, I HAD NO INTEREST IN SEEING HIM -- I WAS NOT FOR OR AGAINST HIM, HE WAS NOT ON MY RADAR, BEYOND HEARING THAT HE WAS ONE OF THE FINEST ALL AROUND PLAYERS IN THE GAME.
I NOTICED HIM, WHEN HE BEGAN A HOMERUN HITTING CAREER, WHILE MEN HIS AGE WERE ANNOUNCING THEIR PLANS FOR RETIREMENT.
WHEN A MAN WHO NEVER HIT 50 HOMERUNS, WHILE YOUNG AND STRONG-- STARTS TO AVERAGE 50+ FOR FIVE YEARS IN HIS "OLD AGE,"I TAKE NOTE OF THAT.
THE LAWS OF BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS AND GERONTOLOGY REQUIRE ME TO TAKE NOTICE.
WHEN A GOOD PLAYER STARTS TO ECLIPSE THE NAMES OF FRANK ROBINSON, MICKEY MANTLE, WILLIE MAYS, BABE RUTH AND HANK AARON IN THE RECORD BOOKS, IT GETS MY ATTENTION.
NOW, THAT THE GREEK TRAGEDY OF A MAN WHO GAVE IN TO HIS BASER INSTINCTS, IS COMING TO AN END --- AN END THAT ANY NON PSYCHOTIC PERSON COULD HAVE PREDICTED YEARS AGO - I FOUND THE WORDS BELOW TO BE VERY APPROPRIATE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO SEEK UNDESERVED SYMPATHY FOR THE FALLEN MISTER BONDS -- A MAN WHO FELL ON HIS OWN SWORD, DUE TO HIS OWN MISDEEDS AND RECKLESS DISREGARD FOR THE TRUTH.
Baseball was corrupted because the people in charge allowed it to be corrupted. So Barry Bonds has to regard Mitchell's report with a measure of satisfaction. He wasn't the only cheater; he was merely the best of them.
Since when is not being the only one doing something wrong called vindication?
A sports writer used that word in talking about Mister Bonds.
I believe vindication means that you were proven innocent and accusations were found to be unjust. In the case of Mr. Bonds they are not unjust.
Saying Bonds is vindicated would be akin to saying that Dahmer wasn't guilty because Bundy, Gacy, Berkowitz and Manson were doing it too. Although taking steroids in baseball is a far cry from serial murder.
Perhaps in the future checking the actual definition of a word would be wise, it looks bad for somebody who gets paid good money to use words to screws up their meaning.
